Choosing a Plastic Surgeon
Cosmetic procedures are becoming more and more common in the U.S. However, if these procedures are left in the wrong hands, the results may not be to your specifications. When choosing a physician, you should spend some time researching to be sure the physician you choose has the proper credentials. First off, ensure that the physician you choose is an ASPS Member Surgeon and is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Look for, at least 5 years of surgical training and a minimum of 2 years in plastic surgery; as well as being experienced in all type of plastic surgery. Also verify that your physician of choice operates in an accredited medical facility and adheres to a strict code of ethics. The physician should also keep up to date with standards patient safety and continuing medical education. So, when thinking about a cosmetic procedure, be sure to look for these credentials.
