Performed at almost any age, Vaser liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes undesirable deposits of fat. Performed at El Paso Cosmetic Surgery in West Texas, Vaser liposuction is our most popular procedure; it is also the most popular cosmetic surgery procedure nationwide.
Women and men who are of almost normal weight but have isolated deposits of fat in certain areas of the body are good candidates for liposuction. The best results are achieved when the skin has good elasticity. When the skin is inelastic, a skin tightening procedure may be necessary to achieve the desired result.
Almost any part of the body can benefit from Vaser liposuction, including the cheeks, neck, upper arms, breast, back, abdomen, waist, hips, buttock, thighs, inner knee and ankles. Patients who are continuously gaining and losing weight are not candidates for Vaser liposuction because if lifestyle changes are not permanently implemented to stabilize weight, the results will not be satisfactory. At your initial consultation at our El Paso, Texas, office, we will perform an examination, evaluate areas targeted for liposuction consideration, and discuss questions regarding general health and weight management to determine whether Vaser liposuction is the right solution.
Fat is removed by inserting a small hollow tube called a cannula into one or more tiny incisions near the area to be suctioned. The incisions are usually less than a quarter of an inch and placed in natural skin folds, making them less visible. There are multiple machines that perform Vaser liposuction: the conventional, ultrasound assisted, and the power assisted machines. None of these techniques have proven superior to the others, but Dr. Sozer may have a preference of using one of them or a combination depending on your body type.
During the surgery, the area to be treated will be instilled with a tumescent solution containing local anesthetic, water and some other drugs that will reduce bleeding during liposuction. After injecting this fluid into the target area, the cannula is inserted and one of the Vaser liposuction machines described above removes the fat.
Due to swelling and bruising after the surgery, you may not even fit into the clothes that you normally wear. To promote proper healing and desired results, you will need to wear a special garment over the areas that received Vaser liposuction for four to six weeks. The swelling and bruising will usually go away in a few weeks, permitting you to wear your regular clothes again. It takes two months, sometimes longer, for the edema (swelling) to fully disappear.
Problems with the abdominal skin can develop in men or women, but many women tend to have more issues relating to the abdominal area because of pregnancy and the resulting stretch marks, laxity of the abdominal wall, and loosening of the skin. They also accumulate more fat because of hormonal changes incurred during pregnancy and breast-feeding.
An abdominoplasty, also called a “ tummy tuck,” is a procedure offered at our office in El Paso, Texas. Abdominoplasty removes the excess skin and fat that tends to accumulate around the abdomen, tightening and firming an area that can be resistant to diet and exercise.
At your initial consultation with the plastic surgeon, the physician will examine the abdomen to decide if the problems can be fixed with liposuction alone or if a tummy tuck is required. We will then arrange for your procedure at our El Paso, Texas, office. The main factors determining your procedure are the amount of stretch marks, the amount of the elasticity of the skin, and the condition of the abdominal wall.
Once the decision to proceed is made, we will explain where the scars will be, and we also will obtain information about your medical history and any allergies.
Possible complications of tummy tuck include infection, bleeding, problems with healing, the collection of blood under the tissues or collection of fluid under the tissues, or adverse reaction to anesthesia.
Certain groups of patients, depending on the extent of skin stretching, skin elasticity, and desired results, may be good candidates for an endoscopic tummy tuck. With an endoscopic tummy tuck at our El Paso, Texas, practice, there are no incisions, and therefore scarring is avoided.
The best candidates for this procedure must have looseness of the abdominal wall but not loose skin or stretch marks. For more information about the tummy tuck offered at El Paso Cosmetic Surgery, contact our West Texas cosmetic surgery practice today.
As people age or gain weight, the upper arms can sag, creating an aesthetically unpleasing effect. Brachioplasty, or upper arm lift, can correct this sagging – giving arms a firm, toned appearance.
Both men and women of normal weight – with more excess skin than fat – are good candidates for brachioplasty. Brachioplasty is ideal for people who have lost large amounts of weight, but whose skin has not conformed to their new body shape.
Excess skin between the thighs can be both a cosmetic and comfort concern. Thigh lift removes this excess skin, making movement more comfortable (when thighs do not rub together), and creating a more aesthetically contoured leg.
Both men and women experience satisfying results after having undergone the medial or upper thigh lift procedures. The ideal candidate will have more excess skin around the upper thigh than fat, though some fat may be removed during the procedure, as well. This procedure works especially well for those patients who have lost large amounts of weight and want to complete their transformation by eliminating remaining skin.
For people who have lost dramatic amounts of weight, post bariatric reconstruction can be the end to a long and exciting journey. Designed specifically for each patient, post bariatric reconstruction eliminates excess skin that is common after weight loss.
Post bariatric reconstruction varies greatly from patient to patient and depends on where excess skin is concentrated, the patient's goals for the procedure, and the our determination of how best to meet those goals. post bariatric reconstruction surgery combines brachioplasty, thigh lift, and tummy tuck, among other procedures, into one operation. The procedure generally takes longer than most single cosmetic procedures.
Often, people who experience dramatic weight loss, particularly after bariatric surgery, find themselves with buttocks that are disproportionately flat or otherwise lacking an aesthetically pleasing contour. To address this problem, Dr. Sozer often performs buttock augmentation as part of a comprehensive lower body lift. While many surgeons use artificial buttock implants to restore shape to the gluteal region, Dr. Sozer developed a procedure that uses the patient's own tissue to create a natural flap that adds projection to the buttocks. This safe, highly effective method of buttock augmentation allows patients to achieve more smoother, more refined results that perfectly complement their new physique. Regardless of the technique ultimately used, patients can expect superior results that are completely natural.

I have always been concerned with my health and the way I look. I exercise and eat healthy, but most of the times that is not enough, especially after having babies. I thought about having something done to improve the way I look, but I guess I was a little scared, until I met Dr. Sozer. I felt very confident about the way he explained everything to me, his knowledge, and care. I am fascinated with the results and if I decide to have something else done, I'll definitely go back to Dr. Sozer. I will certainly recommend him.
