Plastic Surgery to Change Your Life after Weight Loss in El Paso, Texas

For people who have lost a large amount of weight after bariatric surgery or through diet and exercise, extra skin and stubborn areas of fat can hide the shape of their new figure. This sagging skin, which develops due to rapid fat loss and a lack of skin elasticity, can be removed from the face, neck, upper arms, breasts, abdomen, buttocks, and thighs through surgical procedures.

People who are at their ideal weight but still have excess skin may be good candidates for plastic surgery to contour the body after weight loss. At our El Paso, Texas practice, we offer body lift, arm lift, and all of the latest advances in contouring procedures to give patients a more proportionate, natural-looking body contour, leading to enhanced self esteem and confidence. Contact El Paso Cosmetic Surgery to learn more about plastic surgery after weight loss and to find out if you are a good candidate for this procedure.

Circumferential Body Lift

With the “one operation, one recovery” surgical technique, the surgeons at El Paso Cosmetic Surgery can transform your body after significant weight loss with an innovative body lift procedure. Our circumferential body lift for patients who have lost substantial weight includes four plastic surgery procedures. These treatments are completed in tandem to achieve dramatic results as quickly and safely as possible. Begin your new life with weight loss surgery, including body lift and buttock contouring procedures, at El Paso Cosmetic Surgery.
The circumferential body lift at El Paso Cosmetic Surgery includes four procedures for dramatic results: abdominoplasty, lateral thigh lift, buttock lift, and buttock augmentation. In addition, liposuction is often used to touch up areas where fat has accumulated. At our practice, these procedures are completed at the same time for a dramatic body transformation with accelerated recovery.

Circumferential Body Lift – Abdominoplasty

As part of the body lift procedure, our surgeon circumferentially removes the excess skin from the lower portion of the abdomen, the sides, and the buttock area so that the patient achieves a slender body contour. This process leaves a circular scar.

Circumferential Body Lift – Lateral Thigh Lift

Excess skin on the legs sometimes keeps patients who have lost a significant amount of weight from enjoying their new shape and lifestyle. In the lateral thigh lift procedure, which is considered part of the overall body lift at El Paso Cosmetic Surgery, the leg skin is pulled upward like a stocking and the unnecessary skin is excised to create a sleek and natural leg contour.

Circumferential Body Lift – Buttock Lift

To rid the body of excess skin on the buttocks, it is necessary to perform a buttock lift procedure. The buttock area is pulled upward and excess skin is trimmed away for a lean, toned appearance. Because this procedure tends to flatten this area, Dr. Sozer developed a procedure to maintain and even accentuate the curvature of the buttock using natural tissue. For more information on the buttock contouring techniques used at El Paso Cosmetic Surgery, please contact one of our surgeons for a circumferential body lift consultation.

Circumferential Body Lift – Buttock Augmentation

Buttocks are naturally curved, and we believe it is important to preserve this rounded, natural shape during post- weight loss plastic surgery. When necessary, we supplement buttock lift treatments with buttock augmentation for contouring that looks natural. At El Paso Cosmetic Surgery, we use a special technique the Dr. Sozer pioneered, to keep and accentuate the original rounded shape of the buttock. The patient’s own tissue is used to create a “living implant” which augments the buttock and improves its shape. Unlike the artificial buttock implant procedure, buttock contouring performed at El Paso Cosmetic Surgery is safer because the implants are composed of the patient’s natural tissue.

Extended Circumferential Body Lift

For optimal aesthetic results, some patients require extensive body contouring after significant weight loss through bariatric surgery. El Paso Cosmetic Surgery provides an extended circumferential body lift option for patients who have excess skin that must be excised in more than one dimension. An extended circumferential body lift involves removing a triangle of tissue from the abdomen and suturing each side of the body like a vest to develop a waistline. This eliminates excess tissue from top to bottom as well as across the body. Fat pockets and areas where the skin is still loose are addressed as needed on an individual basis.

Medial Thigh Lift

Patients who have lost a considerable amount of weight often experience problems with excess skin on the insides of their thighs. The inner thighs are a common site for skin laxity. The appearance of the thighs can be dramatically improved with medial thigh lift surgery. During a medial thigh lift procedure, incisions are made on the insides of the thighs. In most cases, a crescent of tissue is removed, and the resulting skin is drawn together for a slimmer, tighter appearance.

Extended Medial Thigh Lift

For patients who have achieved significant weight loss after bariatric surgery, an extended medial thigh lift is often necessary. This thigh lift involves longer incisions from the knee to the groin area on the insides of the thighs. A triangle of tissue is removed from each thigh, reducing excess skin in two dimensions to create a firmer and more pleasing contour. Although the incisions are significant, the scars from this procedure are not obvious because they are hidden on the insides of the thighs.

Arm Lift

The upper arms are a common site for skin laxity in patients who have lost a great deal of weight. Extra skin which hangs from the arms can be removed with an arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, for a younger, tauter arm contour. In the arm lift procedure, an incision is made from elbow to armpit. After removing excess skin from the arms, the incisions are closed with sutures. Scarring will not be conspicuous as the incisions are made on the undersides of the arms.

Extended Arm Lift

Loose skin and excess tissue which hangs from the arms can be removed with brachioplasty, or an arm lift. Patients who have lost considerable weight after bariatric surgery often have extensive loose skin and excess tissue which hangs between the shoulder and the elbow. For these patients, the surgeons at El Paso Cosmetic Surgery utilize a specialized technique, extending the brachioplasty incision from the elbow to the armpit and continuing through the lateral chest wall to completely remove this fold of tissue. A traditional arm lift procedure in which an incision is made from elbow to armpit often cannot achieve optimal results for patients who have lost a significant amount of weight. For many patients, an extended arm lift is necessary to fully excise loose skin from the upper arm. Patients who are unsure about which type of arm lift will best address their needs are invited to contact one of our surgeons for a complimentary post-bariatric body lift consultation at our West Texas office.

Breast Lift

After substantial weight loss, breast surgery is sometimes recommended. El Paso Cosmetic Surgery can improve the appearance of breasts which sag due to excess stretched skin. Women who have lost a large amount of weight typically feel that they have been given a new opportunity to look and feel attractive. Firm, lifted breasts help many women feel self-confident after their weight loss transformations. In performing breast lift surgery at our El Paso practice, anchor-shaped incisions are made on the undersides of the breasts. We then remove excess tissue so that the breasts have a rounder appearance.

Face and Neck Lift

Face lift and neck lift are traditionally performed to reduce the signs of facial aging; however, these procedures can be combined to remove the loose and sagging skin that often develops on the face and neck after significant weight loss.  A face and neck lift procedure reduces excess skin and fat in the jowls, removes excess skin throughout the face, and raises the cheek pads for a rejuvenated appearance. Incisions are made in front of and behind the ears and may extend into the hair above and behind the ear. Our surgeons make every effort to make the incisions as unnoticeable as possible.

Testimonial:
I have always been concerned with my health and the way I look. I exercise and eat healthy, but most of the times that is not enough, especially after having babies. I thought about having something done to improve the way I look, but I guess I was a little scared, until I met Dr. Sozer. I felt very confident about the way he explained everything to me, his knowledge, and care. I am fascinated with the results and if I decide to have something else done, I’ll definitely go back to Dr. Sozer. I will certainly recommend him.
