Neck Lift
There are multiple procedures to enhance the appearance of the neck. Depending on the patient expectations and problems within their neck the procedure can be performed with little downtime. Problems in the area of the neck include increased fat deposits, skin laxity, and muscle laxity.
Neck lift procedure
The procedure can be performed alone or in combination with a full facelift. The procedure is sometimes called a cervicoplasty or neck lift platysmaplasty. Nowadays, most procedures can be performed through an incision around your ears. With more advanced deformities an incision under the chin may be necessary. Liposuction of the neck is usually performed at the same time.
When performing a neck lift procedure the neck muscles are tightened either through the chin incision and/or the decision behind the ears.
Candidates for neck lift
Patients with excess fat of the neck, loose neck skin, and/or loose neck muscles are excellent candidates for a neck lift. The procedure is also indicated in patients that wish to have a more defined neck angle.
Complications and side effects of neck lift
Swelling and bruising can last for several days. At first there will be a tight sensation, burning, and/or pulling. You may notice loss of sensation or numbness in the skin. All of these symptoms are normal and resolve themselves overtime.
With any surgical procedure there are risk of infections, bleeding, and fluid collections.
