Breast Lift

Throughout their lives, women are exposed to multiple factors that can change their breast appearance. Genetics, gravity, loss of skin elasticity from aging, weight gain and loss, pregnancy, and breastfeeding can all affect breast shape and firmness. A breast lift can reverse the effects of time, giving you the breasts you had when you were younger.

What is a Breast Lift?

A breast lift, also known as a mastopexy, can tighten and lift sagging or deflated breasts. During the breast lift procedure, the breasts are repositioned higher on the chest, and excess skin, fat, and tissue are removed, creating a more lifted and youthful appearance.

What is a Breast Lift Procedure Like?

If you are considering a breast lift, it’s important that you fully understand the opportunity to benefit from the expertise of Dr. Sozer here at El Paso Cosmetic Surgery. Starting with a procedure that was developed in Brazil, Dr. Sozer took the foundational idea and perfected it to provide more fullness and a longer-lasting result.

Various breast lift techniques can be utilized depending on each patient’s breast size and shape. Dr. Sozer will choose the technique most appropriate for the individual patient.

Although each technique leaves a different kind of scar, the scars of a breast lift procedure usually depend on the shape of the breast and the amount of sagging. In mild cases, the incision can be made just around the areola. In more advanced cases, the incision may be around the areola with a straight scar going down. In the most extreme cases, incisions will be made around the areola with a reverse T-shaped scar.

With time, most scars will fade. However, scar visibility can vary. We do recommend medical-grade scar products that can help minimize the appearance of the scar, and there are other laser treatments that can help as well.

What is Recovery Like After a Breast Lift?

Breast lift (mastopexy) patients can go home the same day of their surgery. Patients will typically need assistance at home for the first to two days. Most patients can go back to performing moderate activities within a week to ten days. Vigorous activities such as sports and activities involving arm movement should be avoided for four to six weeks. Patients may return to all their normal activities in about three months.

Am I a Good Breast Lift Candidate?

Women who are happy with the size of their breasts but not their current breast shape are good candidates for a breast lift. For patients who desire changes in both the shape and volume of their breasts, a breast lift procedure can be done at the same time as breast augmentation. A breast lift can be performed for patients of a wide variety of ages, but we usually recommend waiting until breast development has stopped before undergoing the procedure.

You may be a good candidate for a breast lift if you:

  • Have breasts that are pendulous (droopy or sagging) but adequate in size
  • Have breasts that lack substance or firmness
  • Are in good general health
  • Have a positive attitude and realistic expectations
  • Are a non-smoker

Frequently Asked Questions

Your new breast lift and shape should remain fairly consistent unless you gain or lose a significant amount of weight or become pregnant. It is also important to know that with the effects of aging, gravity will eventually alter the woman’s breasts.

The cost of a breast lift can range depending on each individual’s needs. The starting price for a breast lift procedure is $9,500. Depending on the complexity of the procedure and other factors, including surgical center and anesthesiology fees, costs can increase.
