How Much is Chin Augmentation?

Many people never pay attention to the major role their chin plays in balancing their facial features. However, if you have a small, recessed, or “weak” chin, your other features may look out of proportion. Chin augmentation achieves facial harmony by giving you a defined chin that matches your other features and gives you a stronger, more sculpted profile.

What is Chin Augmentation?

Chin augmentation uses a small silicone chin implant to provide shape and definition. Unlike silicone breast implants, chin implants are solid and feel like your natural jawbone. They come in a range of sizes and shapes, allowing your surgeon to create a chin that matches your other features and gives balance to your face. The implant is inserted through a small incision under the chin, leaving a tiny and nearly invisible scar.

How Much is Chin Augmentation?

When considering any cosmetic procedure, you must weigh the benefits and costs. Several factors affect how much your chin augmentation will cost, including:

  • Your surgeon’s skill and experience
  • Your location
  • The type of implant used
  • Other costs, such as anesthesia

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reports that the average cost of chin augmentation is about $3,400. However, your procedure may cost more or less, depending on the details. We recommend a consultation so your surgeon can assess your needs and provide you with an accurate estimate.

The cost of a chin implant is balanced by its lifespan. Your chin augmentation results will usually last a lifetime without maintenance or attention. Implants are designed to last and almost never need to be removed or replaced.

What is Recovery Like After Chin Augmentation?

After your procedure, you can expect some swelling and often a feeling of tightness in the area. You will have to wear a dressing for the first few days, and your surgeon may recommend a liquid or soft food diet. Most people can eat most of their usual foods and return to work after a week. You can expect to resume your exercise routine or other strenuous activities after a few more weeks.

Am I a Good Candidate for Chin Augmentation?

People who choose to have chin augmentation typically have concerns about the shape, size, or symmetry of their chin. Good candidates are healthy and have reasonable expectations. Chin implants are made of the same FDA-approved, biologically safe silicone as medical implants. You should not have chin augmentation if you have certain medical conditions or are pregnant.

Which Procedures Can Be Combined With Chin Augmentation?

Combining chin augmentation with other procedures often produces maximum results. One of the most common options for chin augmentation is rhinoplasty. This combination gives you a nose and chin that harmonize for a pleasing profile. Another popular option is a neck lift. When combined with a neck lift, a chin implant creates a more defined angle between the neck and jaw, giving your lower face more shape.
