Surgical vs. Botox® Brow Lift: Which is Right for Me?
Your brows are one of the most expressive parts of your face, and their constant motion can contribute to lines and wrinkles. At the same time, collagen loss in your skin can allow your brows and forehead to droop. Your El Paso Cosmetic Surgery team offers several options to address these concerns in a way that works for you.

What is a Brow Lift?
Your brows and forehead can be among the first areas to show signs of aging. Creases across your forehead and between your brows can make you look older or even angry, and drooping brows can give your eyes a hooded appearance. When people refer to a brow lift, they usually mean a surgical brow lift, also known as a forehead lift. However, those not ready for a surgical procedure can also rejuvenate their brow area with Botox®.
Surgical vs. Botox® Brow Lift: Which is Right for Me?
When you visit us for your consultation, we will assess your concerns and discuss your treatment goals. Many factors determine whether you will benefit more from Botox® or a surgical brow lift.
Surgical Brow Lift
A surgical brow lift is performed using one of several different techniques. Incisions are hidden in the hairline, and the procedure can be done using local or general anesthesia. It can remove significant amounts of loose skin, lift drooping brows, and reshape youthful brow arches.

All surgical procedures have risks and recovery time. Swelling fades after one to two weeks, and most people can return to work within about ten days. Results can last for many years, although signs of aging will still occur.
Botox® Brow Lift
Botox® can rejuvenate your brow and forehead areas without surgery. This injectable treatment uses botulinum toxin, a compound that causes facial muscles to relax. When Botox® relaxes targeted muscles in your forehead, it allows your wrinkles to become smoother and your brows to return to a more youthful position.
The risk of side effects from Botox® is very low, although you may notice minor bruising or swelling that can last a few days. Results appear within a few days and usually last three to four months before starting to fade.
Am I a Candidate for a Surgical or Botox® Brow Lift?
Because Botox® is an injectable treatment with no incisions or anesthesia, the risks are lower than for a surgical procedure. However, a non-surgical treatment cannot correct skin laxity or drooping the same way a brow lift can. A consultation will let your surgeon determine whether a surgical or Botox® brow lift will achieve your goals.
