Brazilian Butt Lift

The Brazilian Butt Lift is a type of buttock augmentation procedure that results in more youthful, prominent, perky buttocks and a more sensual body profile. People of all ages are having the procedure that involves excess fat extraction from selected areas of the body with liposuction, processing of the fat, and reinjection of fat cells into the body. The resulting effect is that your profile appears more attractive and sensuous. Although the procedure is called Brazilian Butt Lift, what makes it great is the way the love handles are reshaped to create a nice curve between the butt and the waist. The most important thing in this procedure is to create the best-looking waist-hips-butt area. The increased contrast between the lower back and the buttock itself, as well as the curvy transition between them, enhance the appearance of the buttock.

Brazilian butt lift does not eliminate cellulite.  An alternative procedure called Cellfina can be an option and incorporated with the BBL procedure.  For more information, please select Cellfina tab on menu.

Candidates for a Brazilian Butt Lift

Good candidates are men and women who are in good health and who have excess subcutaneous fat that can be harvested.  Additionally, liposuction areas must have good skin quality to avoid sagging skin.  Patients should have realistic expectations of the desired buttocks. Candidates for the procedure include patients who have a flat buttock and who desire a fuller, more rounded buttock.

Harvested Fat and Technique

The amount of fat needed to be transferred varies depending on the individual patient, expectation, and how much can be harvested.  On the average patients will retain 60-80% of the transferred fat, in some cases more in others less.  Although there is no published research indicating constant pressure or prolong sitting on buttocks causes fat death, at our practice, patients can sit on their buttocks immediately; however, we do encourage patients to shift their body weight every two hours for the first 3-4 weeks.  Multiple sessions may be required depending on the patient’s expectation.

The harvested fat is taken from different areas of the body with liposuction, usually from the flanks (waistline or love handles) and abdomen.  If insufficient fat is removed from those areas, other liposuction areas may be required. Liposuction is performed through small, inconspicuous incisions placed in natural skin folds. Once the fat is removed, it is processed and administered through a special cannula to your buttocks.

Brazilian Butt Lift Recovery and Results

During the first 24-72 hours, patients may experience drainage (fluid leaking) from the incision sites where the liposuction was performed.  Drainage is normal and the amount varies from person to person.  Due to swelling and bruising after the surgery, you may not fit into the clothes that you would normally wear. To promote proper healing, you will need to wear a special garment over the treated areas for four to six weeks. The compression garments serve a few purposes: helps decrease the swelling and essential to the contouring process.  Swelling and bruising will usually subside in a few weeks, at which point you will be able to wear your regular clothes again. Depending on the occupation, most patients can go back to work within 3-5 days with some limitations.

The results of buttock augmentation are immediately visible; however, you will not see your final results until approximately six months after the surgery, as swelling may take that long to subside. This procedure offers natural looking and feeling results, but the projection of the buttocks may decrease over time. Fluctuation of weight may change your results and may shrink or grow the buttocks.

Yes.  There are small incision sites where the liposuction is performed.  The incisions are then used for injecting the fat into the desired area(s).  Within time, the scar may fade.
