Cosmelan® by Mesoestetic®

Skin discolorations and hyperpigmentation are very common skin conditions, and people who experience them may find them to be aesthetically displeasing. While no complexion is perfectly even, some people may find their skin discoloration bothersome, and it can impact their confidence.

The origins of these imperfections may be influenced by genetics, race, gender, pregnancy, oral contraceptive use, hormonal imbalance, or menopause. Excessive sun exposure may also trigger the increase of both new skin discolorations and the darkening of pigmentation spots.

What is Cosmelan® by Mesoestetic®?

Cosmelan® is a professional, topical brightening treatment that targets a wide range of skin discolorations caused by various conditions. Cosmelan® can be an effective treatment option for:

  • Melasma
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
  • Sun/brown spots
  • Freckles
  • Pregnancy mask
  • Chloasma
  • Lentigo

Cosmelan® significantly reduces the blemishes caused by increased melanin production. It does this by gently fading the existing visible pigment and suppressing further pigment from resurfacing. Cosmelan® treatments regulate the mechanisms in the skin that are responsible for the overproduction of melanin, effectively preventing dark spots from reappearing.

What is a Cosmelan® Treatment Like?

Cosmelan® products are professional-grade, and all treatment applications begin with an intensive depigmenting treatment applied by a trained clinician at the Advanced Clinical MedSpa by El Paso Cosmetic Surgery. During this initial treatment session, one of our staff members will cleanse and prepare your skin before applying the mask evenly over the treatment area. You may feel a tingling sensation as soon as the mask is applied.

Your Cosmelan® treatment will then continue at home, and you will be given clear instructions on which products you will need to use, and how they should be applied. Your aftercare regimen is an essential part of the Cosmelan® treatment. While the initial depigmenting treatment helps fade existing pigmentation, the aftercare protocol works to control the skin’s melanin production and prevent the appearance of new dark spots.

Recovery and Results After a Cosmelan® Treatment?

After the Cosmelan® treatment is performed at our Advanced Clinical MedSpa, patients should expect a downtime of three to five days, as well as skin shedding and redness. Your skin will also be more sensitive to the sun, so patients will be asked to wear protective gear (hat, sunglasses, etc.) when being exposed to the sun at all times during the duration of the treatment.

Results can be seen as early as one week after treatment, though most patients notice the most significant skin changes after approximately three weeks. Cosmelan® treatments typically consist of two applications within one year.

In addition to fading pigmentation, Cosmelan® can:

  • Brighten the overall complexion
  • Rejuvenate the appearance of the skin
  • Improve the signs of photo-aging and photo-damaged skin
  • Regulate sebaceous secretion in acne-prone skin

Am I a Good Cosmelan® Candidate?

Cosmelan® has proven to be safe and effective for all skin types and tones. A proper evaluation is required to determine whether you are a candidate for this non-invasive treatment. It is not recommended to have a Cosmelan® treatment if you intend to be exposed to the sun in the near future.
