Dermaplaning

Throughout the day, our skin is exposed to UV rays, pollutants, and harsh environments that can lead to a dull or dry complexion. Dry and damaged skin cells can accumulate on the surface of the skin and lead to a rough skin texture and uneven skin tone. Dermaplaning is an extremely beneficial, minimally-invasive treatment that exfoliates the skin to remove peach fuzz and dead skin cells, revealing smooth, even skin underneath.

What is Dermaplaning?

An effective method of physical exfoliation, dermaplaning uses a scalpel to gently remove the top layer of dead skin cells and vellus hair from the skin. This process reveals fresh skin underneath and a smoother, brighter complexion. Dermaplaning is often used in combination with other MedSpa services to create a smooth canvas that allows products to penetrate more deeply into the skin.

The benefits of dermaplaning include that it:

  • Removes soft facial hair (peach fuzz) that holds onto dirt and oils
  • Allows for deeper product penetration
  • Fades the appearance of acne scars
  • Reduces the appearance of fine lines
  • Provides smoother skin and a brighter complexion

Dermaplaning treatments are part of one of the many services you can benefit from with the Platinum VIP Rewards Program.

What is a Dermaplaning Treatment Like?

When you arrive for a dermaplaning treatment at our Advanced Clinical MedSpa, you will be taken to a comfortable and private treatment room, where a clinician will first cleanse and prep your skin. A dermaplaning tool, which utilizes an angled blade, will then be gently pulled across the treatment area to scrape away dead skills and fine hairs. This process typically takes between 20 and 30 minutes.

Recovery and Results After a Dermaplaning Treatment?

There is no downtime with dermaplaning treatments. Most patients will not have any side effects, but people with especially sensitive skin may experience some minor skin redness, soreness, or tingling. Your skin will be more sensitive after treatment, so we recommend limited sun exposure for the first 24 hours with proper sunscreen application.

Results can be felt immediately after treatment. It is best to get regular treatments to sustain radiant skin. When targeting a specific skin condition, we recommend a series of four treatments to see a significant skin improvement. For routine skin maintenance, dermaplaning treatments can be done monthly.

Am I a Good Dermaplaning Candidate?

A skin analysis is required by our experienced SkinCeuticals Aesthetician to determine whether you would benefit from a Dermaplaning treatment. Dermaplaning is a minimally invasive treatment and can be beneficial for a wide range of skin types and conditions.

People with inflamed or open skin should not undergo dermaplaning, including those with active acne, rosacea, eczema, or sunburn. You should also not undergo dermaplaning if you are planning to have any prolonged sun exposure in the days following treatment.
