Are you curious about breast augmentation surgery, but nervous about what it takes to recover?
Don’t be: We’ve got the inside scoop on what to expect from breast augmentation recovery, including how long the average recovery time takes.
Average Recovery Time for Breast Augmentation
Every patient is different, so there’s no one-size-fits-all answer to breast augmentation recovery. However, most patients feel ready to return back to work about three to five days after their surgery. We do recommend that patients with jobs that involve manual work – like lifting anything that weighs more than three pounds – wait at least two weeks before going back to work.
Total breast augmentation recovery typically takes about four to six weeks, at which point patients can fully enjoy their normal routine again.
How to Heal Faster from Your Breast Augmentation Surgery
Want to get back on your feet faster – without putting your breast augmentation results at risk? Check out these quick tips:
1. Take your time to heal.
That first week of your breast augmentation recovery is critical; this is when your body will do the majority of recovering from surgery. That’s why we recommend taking as much time as possible to heal during those pivotal first few days. Don’t return back to work before you’re ready or start doing more work around the house. Relax and give your body the chance to recover – your results will thank you for it later!
2. Plan for help.
You don’t have to heal alone. Ask your partner, family members, or friends to drop in and visit you during your recovery. This tip is especially important during the first few days of healing when you might need some assistance going to the bathroom or making food.
3. Ask for a customized plan.
Make sure you fully understand the recovery plan your plastic surgeon has designed for you before surgery. This is your time to ask questions, so if you want the best results possible, ensure you’re on the same page as your plastic surgeon.
