Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) photofacial skin treatments are a breakthrough in anti-aging skin care. IPL treatments use the photorejuvenation process to treat damaged skin non-invasively with no disruption of the skin’s epidermal surface, resulting in a low risk of complications and no recovery time.
What is Intense Pulsed Light?
Intense Pulse Light is a type of treatment that uses multiple wavelengths of light energy to target skin irregularities. IPL Photofacial technology can correct a variety of benign skin conditions, such as photo-aging spots, birthmarks, unwanted hair, unsightly veins, and other blemishes and imperfections.
It can be used to perform many types of skin treatments, including:
Sun damage, genetics, and simple aging can create spots, freckles, and fine lines on the skin. There is no need to accept the aging appearance of the skin. At El Paso Cosmetic Surgery, we can use the power of light in an IPL treatment to minimize the signs of aging.
IPL technology also allows us to reduce and even remove the appearance of unsightly spider veins or leg veins. These blemishes can cause extreme self-consciousness, but they can be easily treated in just a few sessions with IPL.
IPL technology can also target acne, mild scars, and other skin blemishes, giving your skin a fresh, youthful appearance, so you won’t feel like you have to hide behind makeup. Enjoy the newfound confidence that IPL has given to thousands who suffer from acne.
What is an IPL Treatment Like?
IPL photofacial treatments are performed at our West Texas practice by trained aestheticians under the supervision of our expert surgeon . Prior to your IPL treatment, your skin will be cleansed and prepped, and you will be given a pair of goggles to protect your eyes from the light. During the treatment, you may feel a slight tingling or the sensation of a light rubber band snapping as the light pulses. Each session lasts about 20-30 minutes but can take longer depending on the size of the treatment area.
Recovery and Results After an IPL Treatment?
Intense Pulsed Light treatments are non-invasive and do not require any downtime. However, your skin will be more sensitive after treatment and may be slightly red and warm, like you have a mild sunburn. This sensation usually subsides within four to six hours of treatment. You may experience some skin peeling in the weeks after treatment, and this is a positive indication that the treatment is working.
Intense Pulsed Light treatments are generally administered in a series of four to six sessions for best results. Your clinician can help you devise an individual treatment plan suited to your needs. IPL treatments provide excellent long-term results, minimal adverse effects, and high patient satisfaction.
Am I a Good Intense Pulsed Light Candidate?
IPL treatments can be beneficial for people with a wide range of skin concerns, including acne, stretch marks, spider veins, discoloration, and wrinkles. IPL treatments are non-invasive, and most patients will make good candidates. However, if you are taking certain medications, are sensitive to light, have recently tanned, or have certain skin disorders, you may not be a candidate for IPL.
