PRP Hair Restoration
Hair loss or thinning of hair can be devastating for both men and women. At our SkinCeuticals Advanced Clinical Spa by El Paso Cosmetic Surgery, we have several solutions for hair restoration. One option, PRP for Hair Loss.
PRP therapy for hair loss is a treatment that has become one of the newest non-surgical hair sensation solutions. PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is said to be most beneficial for those who are experiencing the early stages of thinning hair and those who hair loss is inherited can be great for preventatively.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Process
PRP is a high concentration of platelets, stem cells, and growth factors, in a small volume of plasma. It is retracted from the patient by drawing a small amount of blood by our Registered Nurse or Medical Assistant. Once the blood is retracted, the blood is placed in a centrifuge that spins the blood at a very high speed causing the platelets to separate from the other components of the blood. Once the platelets are concentrated into the plasma, they can be re-injected to the patient’s thinning areas, allowing hair to thicken and hair loss to decrease.
Candidates for PRP for Hair Loss
PRP for hair loss is best for patients who require stimulation of inactive or newly implanted hair follicles into an active phase. You are a great candidate for this procedure if:
- Are in the early stages of thinning hair or hair loss
- Have experienced natural hair thinning or hair loss
- Are in good overall health
- Have realistic expectations of what this treatment can achieve
Treatment and Results
The number of treatments vary from each person and is customizable. We do recommend a minimum of a series of four PRP treatments along with pre-and post-restoration products to get best results. This treatment can be combined with our Ultherapy Light Treatment and/or Neograft Hair Transplants.
Most patients who undergo this hair loss treatment experience no downtime and are able to return to normal activities within 24 hours. Patients may experience slight tenderness and/or bruising.
Patients can see results within four to six weeks; however, best results can take up to eight months after treatment. Hair follicles see about 60% increase in thickness. Most patients will need to repeat a PRP treatment after one year to maintain the hair growth effects.
The next step is to schedule your consultation.
