IPL™ Photofacial and Skin Treatments

Intense Pulsed Light™ (IPL) photofacial skin treatments are a breakthrough in anti-aging skin care. IPL™ treatments use the photorejuvenation process to treat damaged skin non-invasively with no disruption of the skin’s epidermal surface, resulting in a low risk of complications and no recovery time.

IPL™ photofacial technology can correct a variety of benign skin conditions, such photo-aging spots, birthmarks, unwanted hair, unsightly veins, and other blemishes and imperfections. It can be used to perform many types of skin treatments, including:

Photorejuvenation – Sun damage, genetics, and simple aging can create spots, freckles, and fine lines on the skin. There is no need to accept the aging appearance of skin. At El Paso Cosmetic Surgery, we can use the power of light in an IPL™ treatment to minimize the signs of aging.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

At El Paso Cosmetic Surgery, we offer the most technologically advanced laser systems, including the UltraPulse® CO2 laser with CO2 Laser, and TotalFX. The goal of laser skin resurfacing is simple: replace damaged skin with new, fresh skin. The primary treatment applications of laser skin resurfacing include:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles of the face, especially around the upper lip, cheeks and forehead
  • Loose eyelid skin
  • Crow’s feet around the eyes
  • Pucker marks (smoker’s lines) and frown lines
  • Brown spots and splotchy, uneven skin tone
  • Scars, especially acne scars
  • Loose skin around the neck and jowls

During laser skin resurfacing, thousands of tiny laser pulses are delivered in a pattern over the skin. Each pulse of the laser heats a column of tissue and creates a zone of heating in the deep layers of the skin, resulting in the elimination of pigment discolorations at the surface and immediate shrinkage of collagen. The CO2 laser also heats the deep layers of skin tissue, stimulating further collagen remodeling. Patients can select from a range of treatments depending on the needs of their skin and their lifestyle.

Laser skin resurfacing produces long-lasting results that can be maintained for many years with proper sun protection. Smoother, younger-looking skin is visible immediately after treatment, whereas new collagen builds gradually and becomes more evident over time. Therefore, most people look even better three to five months after the procedure.

Fraxel® Laser Treatments

We use the CO2 Fraxel® laser to improve the appearance of fine lines around the eyes, brown spots, and sun damaged skin. This laser repairs the skin by treating one small area at a time using microscopic laser spots. Lines and discolorations will fade immediately, and you will emerge from treatment with smoother, younger-looking skin.

CO2 Laser Treatments

The treatment is quick and can be performed right in our office, producing remarkable results while requiring minimal downtime. Wrinkles, skin texture, pigmentation, sun damage, and skin texture will all be improved with CO2 Laser laser treatments.

Microdermabrasion

Surgery targets the underlying problems associated with aging, but it can’t change the appearance of the skin, including fine lines, blemishes, and discolorations. Microdermabrasion, however, can be used to improve the appearance of the skin by gently exfoliating and removing its damaged outer layers, allowing youthful, fresh skin to appear.

Vibradermabrasion

Vibraderm, or vibradermabrasion, uses a vibrating surface to remove layers of damaged skin cells, instantly producing smooth and glowing skin. New collagen is also produced within three weeks for continued results. Vibradermabrasion is painless; it requires no time for recuperation, and most patients experience no discomfort. In fact, patients frequently describe the treatment as pleasant and soothing. Best of all, the treatment does not interfere with the use of makeup and moisturizers.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels can rejuvenate the appearance of the skin and treat acne, fine lines, and other blemishes by removing dead skin cells to reveal fresh, younger-looking skin. Chemical peels can be used as a stand-alone treatment; however, many patients find that this non-invasive treatment can enhance the results of their surgical procedures as well.

MicroPeel® with Dermaplaning

To treat extensive sun damage, deep wrinkles, and scars, we use the BioMedic MicroPeel®. The first step of the MicroPeel® is a dermaplaning procedure involving the use of a special blade to manually remove dead skin cells. We then apply a chemical solution to further exfoliate dead skin cells. We may also perform a third step, called Cryogenic Therapy, for some skin types and conditions. This freezing process involves the application of carbon dioxide to the skin in circular motions to reduce inflammation and make the pores look smaller. The MicroPeel® procedure produces smooth, healthy skin with a youthful glow, and can even remove surface hair.

This safe, painless, non-invasive treatment can be combined with Levulan®, a solution that is applied to the targeted area to boost the effects of the Blu-U light and shrink oil glands for superior acne treatment results.
