Are you self-conscious about the appearance of your labia minora? Do you find it hard to wear jeans or exercise because the size or length of your labia minora interferes with your movements? If that’s the case, you may be a good candidate for labiaplasty at El Paso Cosmetic Surgery.
What is a Labiaplasty?
Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that’s designed to trim and reduce the length of the labia minora. The main benefit of the treatment is that it can help women feel more comfortable during activities that would otherwise prompt twisting and tugging; additionally, it can make women feel more confident in intimate situations.
What is a Labiaplasty Procedure Like?
Prior to your procedure, you will have a thorough consultation, where you can ask all of your questions and find out if the procedure is right for you. Your surgeon will make sure to understand your unique situation and surgical goals, and will tailor your surgery to fit your needs.
During the procedure, your surgeon will trim the labia minora down to a smaller size, and make adjustments to ensure they maintain a natural appearance. If your labia minora are asymmetrical, they will be trimmed to be more balanced. Your plastic surgeon may also remove the folds of the clitoral hood, depending on your symptoms and preference. The labiaplasty surgery takes about one to two hours to perform, depending on the patient’s unique concerns and surgical goals, as well as the complexity of the procedure.
What is Recovery Like After a Labiaplasty?
You should expect to see results from your labiaplasty right away; however, some swelling is expected to last about four to six weeks. After this time, you can resume intensive physical activity, and have sexual intercourse. You can also start using tampons about four weeks after your surgery.
You should expect to feel some soreness and discomfort after the procedure. Most patients take about a week off of work, as there will be a significant amount of swelling and bruising. You may want to wear an elastic garment like Spanx to help keep the swelling down, and use ice packs or a cool compress to help with the discomfort.
Am I a Good Labiaplasty Candidate?
You’re a good candidate for a labiaplasty procedure if you have long labia minora and it makes you feel uncomfortable while being physically active (both with regards to exercise and intimacy). You should also be a healthy non-smoker with realistic expectations for the outcome of this procedure.
The next step is to schedule your consultation. During your consultation, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Sozer or Dr. Phillips will evaluate you and discuss all your questions, concerns, and desires before undergoing surgery so you can have realistic expectations. You may call or text our office at (915) 351-1116 to schedule your consultation or fill out our “Schedule Your Consultation” form. Someone will contact you to make an appointment.
