What Types of Dermal Fillers Exist?

If you’d like to restore youthful facial contours without undergoing surgery, you might want to opt for dermal fillers. Dermal fillers soften wrinkles and fine lines, enhance facial contours, plump thin lips, and more.

At El Paso Cosmetic Surgery, El Paso, TX, we know that choosing the right filler can be confusing because there are many types available these days. Fortunately, our highly trained aestheticians can help you decide which filler will be the perfect fit for your needs.

What Types of Dermal Fillers Exist

Hyaluronic Acid

Most of the dermal fillers on the market are made of hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is a substance that is naturally present in the body and keeps the skin supple and hydrated. However, HA levels decline over time, causing your skin to lose moisture and flexibility. HA fillers increase moisture, and this improves elasticity and flexibility.

The Juvéderm® Difference

Juvéderm® is the most popular HA filler on the market. At El Paso Cosmetic Surgery, we use Juvéderm Ultra XC and Ultra Plus, Juvéderm Voluma, Juvéderm Volbella, and Juvéderm Vollure for facial rejuvenation. The Juvéderm® products soften moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds and restore lost facial volume.

When HA is injected into the soft tissue, it attracts water, and the added moisture hydrates and plumps the skin. Replacing fatty tissue and smoothing wrinkles gives the face a more youthful appearance. Most HA fillers last about 12 months.

Poly-L-lactic Acid

Poly-L-lactic acid is a synthetic biodegradable polymer, so it is easily broken down by the body. This biocompatible substance is known as a collagen stimulator, which means it works by kickstarting the body’s natural production of collagen.

Sculptra® Aesthetic

Sculptra® Aesthetic is an FDA-approved Poly-L-lactic acid filler that we use regularly at El Paso Cosmetic Surgery. Unlike Juvéderm, which works by adding volume to soft tissue, Sculptra® Aesthetic rejuvenates the skin by stimulating collagen.

Collagen is a vital component of healthy, youthful skin and gives it shape and elasticity. Rebuilding the skin’s natural collagen restores the resilience and youthfulness of the skin. The results of Sculptra® Aesthetic can last up to 2 years.

I had breast augmentation done in November, it’s been 3 months, and I am loving the results. Dr. Sozer did an amazing job and the staff was very friendly.
