Can I get body contouring if I am overweight?
Yes. While body contouring (abdominoplasty, tummy tuck, brachioplasty, buttock lift, arm lift, thigh lift, liposuction) is most thought of to remove excess tissue after weight loss or after pregnancy, body contouring can be performed on some patients that are overweight. At El Paso Cosmetic Surgery we offer a moderate weight loss surgery where you can lose up to 35 pounds.
Can I get body contouring after bariatric surgery?
Yes, body contouring (abdominoplasty, tummy tuck, buttock lift, brachioplasty, arm lift, thigh lift and liposuction) after bariatric surgery is very common. The best results for body contouring are obtained if the patient has lost all the weight that they want to lose and their weight has become stable. The combination of bariatric surgery and body contouring can give the patient dramatic results. Our very own plastic surgeon Ozan Sozer, M.D. of El Paso Cosmetic Surgery, is one of few doctors in the world that can do the full body lift in one day.
Is body contouring safe?
While there are always inherent risks with any surgery, body contouring is generally considered safe. You will want to make sure that your plastic surgeon is board certified and has a proven record of success with cases such as this. Dr. Ozan Sozer is board certified and we’d be happy to talk about our success cases with you.
How much body contouring can be done at one time?
At El Paso Cosmetic Surgery the full body can be done in one day. Large amounts of excess tissue can be removed by body contouring (abdominoplasty, tummy tuck, buttock lift, brachioplasty, arm lift, thigh lift), and the number of procedures that are recommended varies widely depending upon the patient’s particular situation and the surgeons recommendation.
How long before I can go back to work after body contouring surgery?
In general, most patients can easily return to work in about five days if it’s a single procedure. If it’s multiple procedures, up to three weeks to be off work is the recommendation.
What is a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty?
Abdominoplasty is a surgery that removes excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen and tightens the muscle of the abdominal wall. This procedure can dramatically reduce the appearance of a protruding abdomen. Abdominoplasty surgical sculpting addresses much more than liposuction surgery which is only for localized fat collections.
What is the recovery with a full tummy tuck?
Complete recovery from a fully tummy tuck may take 6-9 weeks. During the first ten days to two weeks you will have to stay at home resting comfortably. It’s very important that patients walk around the house during this time. Slowly you will ease back into your daily activities for the next 2-3 weeks. You should not do any heavy exercise for 6-8 weeks after the procedure.
What is liposuction?
Liposuction is the removal of unwanted fat through incisions that are usually less than a quarter of an inch in length. Through these small incisions a device called a cannula is inserted. A cannula is a narrow tube of varying lengths and widths. The cannula is moved back and forth thereby breaking up the fat. The fat is then suctioned through the cannula, through a tube and into a container.
What are the advantages of Smartlipo Triplex™ over other similar treatments?
Smartlipo Triplex™ is the only laser lipolysis that incorporates three lasers in one treatment. This means that it can liquefy fat, tighten the skin and reduce bleeding. Other systems only use up to two lasers and do not achieve such a wide variety of results in one use. Also, SmartlipoTriplex™ is equipped with Smartsense with Thermaguide. This allows it to monitor the temperature of the skin so that the procedure never becomes painfully hot. Smartlipo Triplex ™is offered only at El Paso Cosmetic Surgery.
When will I see my final results after liposuction?
Everyone is different. Some people retain their swelling longer than others. During the first week to ten days you will notice swelling. Following this the swelling subsides and your final results gradually unfold. Dr. Ozan Sozer at El Paso Cosmetic Surgery makes sure his patients are on a vitamin regimen before and after the surgery so they recuperate much faster.
What is an arm lift?
As people age or gain weight, the upper arms can sag, creating an aesthetically unpleasant effect. Brachioplasty, or upper arm lift, can correct this sagging, giving arms a firm, toned appearance.
There are several approaches to arm lift surgery, and we will tailor your procedure to your individual needs. Liposuction alone is often the best treatment for patients with minimal excess upper arm fat and no extra skin. For patients with extensive extra upper arm skin, which is common for those who have lost a lot of weight, the incision will run from the elbow through the armpit and onto the side of the chest.
What is a Thigh Lift?
Excess skin between the thighs can be both a cosmetic and comfort concern. Thigh lift removes this excess skin so that the thighs do not rub together, making movement more comfortable and creating a more aesthetically contoured leg. Both men and women experience satisfying results after undergoing medial or upper thigh lift procedures. The ideal candidate will have more excess skin than fat around the upper thigh, though some fat may be removed during the procedure as well. This procedure works especially well for patients who have lost a large amount of weight and want to complete their transformation by removing remaining skin.
What is a Spiral Lift?
Some patients may benefit from a “Spiral Lift”, a procedure developed by plastic surgeon Ozan Sozer, M.D. at El Paso Cosmetic Surgery that results in a circumferential lift of the thighs with a buttock lift and augmentation.
Is general anesthesia safe?
Yes, general anesthesia is safe. At El Paso Cosmetic Surgery the anesthesia is performed by a board certified anesthesiologist that is skilled in taking care of our patients undergoing a surgical procedure.
What is a Buttock Augmentation and Lift?
Often, people who experience dramatic weight loss, particularly after bariatric surgery, find themselves with buttocks that are disproportionately flat or otherwise lacking an aesthetically pleasing contour. To address this problem, we often perform a butt augmentation and lift as part of a comprehensive lower body lift. While many plastic surgeons use artificial buttock implants to restore shape to the gluteal region, Dr. Sozer developed a procedure that uses the patient’s own tissue to create a natural flap that adds projection to the buttocks. This safe, highly effective method of butt augmentation and lift allows patients to achieve a smoother, more refined result that perfectly complements their new physique.
Alternatively, gluteal augmentation can be achieved with fat injections. This is an effective and reliable technique for patients who wish a moderate buttock augmentation while avoiding a large scar.
Regardless of the technique ultimately used, patients can expect superior results that are completely natural.
