CO2 Laser UltraPulse® Laser Resurfacing

As we age and our skin is exposed to the sun and other harmful external factors, our skin becomes increasingly damaged over time. Laser skin resurfacing is a rejuvenating procedure that dramatically improves the appearance of the skin by promoting deep, dermal regeneration

If you have aging or damaged skin, fine lines and wrinkles, scars from acne or trauma, or skin laxity, the registered nurses or aestheticians at El Paso Cosmetic Surgery’s MedSpa can help you decide if CO2 Laser UltraPulse® laser resurfacing is the answer you seek.

What is CO2 Laser UltraPulse® Laser Resurfacing?

At El Paso Cosmetic Surgery’s Advanced Clinical MedSpa we offer the CO2 Laser UltraPulse® laser to resurface the skin. The CO2 Laser uses short pulsed light energy that is delivered in a scanning pattern to heat the dermal tissue and remove thin layers of skin with minimal heat damage.

It is a safe, precise, and powerfully fast way to promote skin regeneration. The laser technology is a CO2 fractional laser, which creates microscopic channels in the skin. This process causes the body to increase the production of collagen and elastin, repairing the damaged tissue with fresh, smooth skin.

Years of experience and an extensive reference base, including dozens of peer-reviewed research papers, have standardized the CO2 Laser UltraPulse® laser resurfacing treatment protocol, ensuring safe, repeatable, and consistent results.

What is an CO2 Laser Treatment Like?

CO2 Laser is an invasive laser treatment and requires the patients to be prepared before the treatment. You will be given a treatment protocol and supporting skin care products so that your skin is ready for the treatment on the day of your appointment.

To ensure that your laser skin resurfacing treatment is as comfortable as possible, the treatment area will be numbed with a local anesthetic prior to the procedure. Most treatments take approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. The procedure should not be painful with proper management, but you may feel the warmth of the laser on the skin and slight discomfort. Including the time it takes for the local anesthetic to begin working, you can expect to be at your appointment for approximately one hour.

Recovery and Results After an CO2 Laser Treatment?

After an CO2 Laser treatment, you may experience redness and swelling in the treatment area, depending on the extent of your treatment and the sensitivity of your skin. Your skin may also continue to feel warm for several hours to a few days after treatment. Depending on the intensity of your treatment protocol, you may have a short downtime.

After the treatment, you need to avoid direct sunlight and excessive heat for a few weeks.

The CO2 Laser UltraPulse® laser technology is extremely effective, and results are visible after just one treatment session. The benefits of CO2 Laser laser skin resurfacing include:

  • Smoother skin texture
  • Improved skin elasticity and resilience
  • More even complexion
  • Removal of brown spots, sun spots, and sun damage
  • Decreased appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

Am I a Good CO2 Laser Candidate?

CO2 Laser UltraPulse® Laser Resurfacing is an ideal treatment if you:

  • Have a busy lifestyle or cannot be away from work for a long time
  • Want noticeable results after one session with minimal downtime
  • Have wrinkles, scarring, skin texture, uneven skin tone, or skin laxity
  • Want to improve the overall health and resilience of your skin

Not everyone is a candidate for the CO2 Laser. Patients who are using certain medications or have a history of keloid scarring may not make good candidates for treatment. The trained staff at the El Paso Cosmetic Surgery MedSpa will be happy to talk with you about your candidacy for CO2 Laser UltraPulse® laser resurfacing.
