What is a Brow Lift?
A brow lift procedure removes loose, sagging skin to create a smooth forehead with high, youthful brows, and bright, open eyes. During your initial consultation at our practice, Dr. Sozer will thoroughly examine your face and give you their professional opinion on the procedure that is right for you.
What is a Brow Lift Procedure Like?
There are multiple approaches to brow lift surgery, and the procedure can be tailored to suit your specific needs.
Coronal Brow Lift
The coronal brow lift is the traditional forehead lift technique. There is a single incision made from ear to ear, across the top of the forehead. The incision is hidden within the hairline and is almost impossible to see when healed. During the procedure, the forehead skin is lifted and the excess tissue is removed, raising the browline and opening the eyes. The muscles within the forehead are also tightened and repositioned to create a smoother, more youthful appearance.
Gliding Brow Lift
The endoscopic brow lift, or endoscopic forehead lift, is a less invasive technique to lift the brow area. The procedure is done using an endoscope, which is a fiber-optic camera that allows us to elevate the brow and rejuvenate the forehead with minimal incisions. As an alternative to using stitches, we use the ENDOTINE Forehead™, a breakthrough device designed to facilitate facial aesthetic procedures, reduce operating time, and improve surgical outcomes. Made of a bioabsorbable copolymer, the device is metabolized by the body during the healing process so it doesn’t need to be removed.
In addition to being a relatively quick procedure, endoscopic brow lift patients will enjoy the benefits of a rapid recovery and minimal scarring, making it a great choice for those who desire a refreshed appearance without extensive downtime.
Endotine TransBleph™: Eyelid Surgery and Brow Lift Procedure
The ENDOTINE TransBleph™ is an innovative technology that allows our surgeons at El Paso Cosmetic surgery to perform a combination brow lift and eyelid surgery through a single incision on each eyelid. During the procedure, incisions are made hidden within the creases of the upper eyelids. Through these incisions, the excess upper eyelid skin is removed, and the brow is raised using the ENDOTINE TransBleph™, a bioabsorbable device that uses tissue fixation to reposition the brows. The ENDOTINE TransBleph™ allows patients to receive brow and eye rejuvenation with reduced surgery and recovery time, as well as minimal scarring.
What is Recovery Like After a Forehead Lift?
Recovery time following a brow/forehead lift surgery varies greatly among individuals. Depending on your general physical condition and the extent of your surgery, you may be able to return to non-strenuous activities within ten days of your surgery.
After a coronal brow lift, it takes one to two weeks for swelling and bruising to resolve. A small amount of swelling may remain for up to six months and will continue to dissipate gradually. Endoscopic brow lifts are less invasive, and in some cases, patients show no visible detection of having had a procedure done. Patients can expect a very minimal recovery time after an endoscopic procedure.
Am I a Good Brow Lift Candidate?
A brow/forehead lift procedure can be beneficial to men and women of many ages. If you have skin laxity in your forehead and drooping eyebrows, a brow lift may be the right option for you. A proper evaluation by Dr. Sozer is necessary to know whether you are a candidate for surgical and/or non-surgical procedures.
You may be a good candidate for a forehead lift if you:
- Suffer from upper eyelid ptosis (drooping of the eyelids)
- Have excess forehead skin and tissue
- Have deep horizontal creases across your forehead
- Have furrows (frown lines) between the eyebrows
- Are healthy and do not have any medical conditions that may impair healing
- Have a positive outlook and realistic expectations of what surgery can achieve
- Are a non-smoker
