Liposuction for Men

Liposuction is a popular procedure amongst our male clients at El Paso Cosmetic Surgery. It is common for men to experience bulges of fat that make them feel self-conscious. Male liposuction procedures can remove these areas of unwanted fat to create a more defined, sculpted, and masculine appearance to the body.

What is Liposuction for Men?

Liposuction procedures can remove unwanted fat deposits from many areas of a man’s body, including the stomach, hips, thighs, arms, and neck, with the goal of producing a more proportionate body contour. By targeting specific areas for fat removal, Dr. Sozer can improve the overall shape and silhouette of the body.

Male liposuction is best incorporated with abdominal etching, a procedure designed to enhance the contours of the abdomen to give the appearance of a six-pack. Male liposuction procedures can also be performed on the chest to improve gynecomastia, the over-development of breast tissue in men.

What is a Male Liposuction Procedure Like?

There are different types of liposuction procedures that can be performed on male patients at El Paso Cosmetic Surgery. During your initial consultation with Dr. Sozer , your surgeon will recommend the liposuction procedure that is best suited for you based on your physical examination and procedure goals.

Traditional liposuction involves removing fat deposits by inserting a small hollow tube called a cannula under the skin through tiny incisions near the treatment site. The cannula produces a suction, and the surgeon uses it to remove fat cells from the body.

At El Paso Cosmetic Surgery, we specialize in tumescent liposuction, a procedure that is more effective, safer, less painful, and has a quicker recovery time than traditional liposuction. During tumescent liposuction, the area to be treated will be instilled with a tumescent solution containing local anesthetic and water, which will reduce bleeding during the procedure, as well as lessen pain, bruising, and swelling after the procedure.

The incisions are usually less than a quarter of an inch long, and they are hidden within natural skin folds. Almost any part of a man’s body can be treated with liposuction, including the:

  • Neck
  • Upper arms
  • Chest
  • Back
  • Abdomen
  • Waist
  • Hips
  • Buttocks
  • Thighs
  • Inner knees
  • Ankles

We also offer a non-surgical laser liposuction treatment called Emerald at our Advanced Clinical MedSpa as well as CoolSculpting for removing stubborn fat pockets.

What is Recovery Like After Liposuction?

Liposuction recovery periods vary from man to man, depending on the number of areas treated and each individual’s healing process. Most patients can go back to work within three to five days. To promote proper healing after surgery and improve swelling and bruising, you will need to wear a compression garment over the treated areas for four to six weeks.

Swelling and bruising usually subside dramatically within a few weeks of surgery, at which point you will be able to wear your regular clothes again. The results from your male liposuction procedure will become most apparent after two to six months.

Am I a Good Male Liposuction Candidate?

Good tumescent liposuction candidates are individuals who are in good health and relatively close to their goal weight. The best male liposuction candidates will also have good skin quality but have trouble losing unwanted pockets of fat.

Liposuction is not a replacement for diet and exercise and is not considered a weight-loss procedure. Rather, liposuction is a body contouring procedure that can change the shape and definition of your silhouette. The average weight loss from liposuction is between 3-5lbs.
