Many men want to aesthetically improve the appearance of their buttocks. Some men wish to enhance the size and projection of their buttocks, while others only want to improve the shape and tone of their backside.
Men commonly seek butt augmentation and lift procedures as part of post-bariatric surgery. After dramatic weight loss, the tissue of the buttocks can become loose and begin to sag or look deflated, causing men to seek cosmetic procedures to improve the appearance of the buttocks.
What is Butt Augmentation for Men?
Buttock lift procedures can remove the excess skin and sagging tissue from the buttocks, while butt augmentation procedures add targeted volume to the buttocks to improve their size and shape. Depending on their unique circumstances and desired surgical outcome, men can choose to undergo a buttock lift, buttock augmentation, or a combination of both.
What is a Male Butt Augmentation Procedure Like?
Prior to surgery, each patient will have a consultation with Dr. Sozer , where they will be evaluated and their surgical options will be discussed. Your surgeon will answer all of your questions and let you know what procedures are necessary to achieve your aesthetic goals.
If a buttock lift is necessary, an incision will be made along the top of your buttocks, extending partially onto the hips. Through this incision, the buttocks will be lifted and any excess skin or tissue will be removed. After a buttock lift, the butt may still appear deflated and lacking projection. Volume can then be added through butt augmentation.
Butt augmentation can be performed on its own or through the incisions of a buttock lift. At El Paso Cosmetic Surgery, volume is added to the buttocks using either fat transfer or an innovative surgical technique created by Dr. Sozer called the Sozer Flap.
Fat Transfer to the Buttocks
Buttock fat transfer, also known as the Brazilian butt lift or BBL, involves removing fat from targeted areas of the body through liposuction. Liposuction is performed where there is the largest accumulation of fat. Our male patients typically receive liposuction on the abdomen, flanks, or thighs. The fat cells are then cleaned, processed, and re-injected into the buttocks to add volume and definition.
The Sozer Flap
The founder of El Paso Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. Ozan Sozer, developed a technique to maintain and accentuate the buttocks using natural tissue. The Sozer Flap augments the buttocks by using the patient’s own tissue to create a “living implant.” This method is safer than traditional buttock implants, as there is no foreign material being introduced to the body.
The Sozer Flap can be performed through the same incisions as the buttock lift. It is a great surgical option for male patients who do not have sufficient fat to harvest during a BBL procedure.
What is Recovery Like After a Butt Augmentation?
Depending on the type of buttock procedure(s) performed, you may have drains for three to five days after the procedure. You will be allowed to sit on your buttocks immediately after surgery. Depending on your occupation, you may be able to return to work within five to ten days, with some limitations.
Due to swelling after surgery, you may not immediately fit into your usual clothes. For four to six weeks after surgery, you will be asked to wear a compression garment to decrease swelling and promote proper healing. The majority of swelling and bruising will usually subside within a few weeks, with the most visible results after three to six months.
Am I a Good Male Butt Augmentation Candidate?
If you are a man who would like to improve the size, projection, shape, and/or tone of his buttocks, you may be a good candidate for a male butt augmentation procedure. Men who have undergone bariatric surgery or experienced a dramatic weight loss typically make excellent candidates for buttock lift surgery.
You may also be a good candidate for a cosmetic buttock procedure if you:
- Have excess skin or tissue on the buttocks
- Have a loose or saggy backside
- Desire a more projected and defined appearance to the butt
- Are in generally good health and do not have any medical conditions that could impair healing
- Have a positive outlook and realistic expectations about what surgery can achieve
- Are a non-smoker
