When Can I Return to Work After a Breast Augmentation?

Getting breast augmentation can be a major milestone, especially for patients who want to feel confident in their own skin.

After all, the surgery – which has a sky-high patient satisfaction rating – can help increase bust size, correct symmetry issues, and help patients feel a lot more self-assured in their favorite dress or tank top.

Maybe you’re ready to experience the life-changing benefits of breast augmentation surgery for yourself, but there’s one thing holding you back:

Taking time off from work.

Returning to Work After a Breast Augmentation

As it turns out, you may not have to take a long time off from work to recover from your breast augmentation surgery. In fact, most patients are able to return to their work about one week after their breast enhancement treatment.

There is a caveat; this recommendation is meant for patients who have more sedentary work, like a desk job.

What If I Work a More Physical Job?

If you have a more active job where you’re required to lift objects from the ground (even if it’s just five pounds) or lift anything over your head, your plastic surgeon will likely recommend that you take at least two weeks off from work.

That’s because you’ll be limited from lifting any weighted objects, as this could potentially cause your incisions to rip.

What About Returning to My Normal Activities?

While every patient is different, most people can expect to return to their normal activities within four to six weeks. Your plastic surgeon can provide you with a personalized post-op plan to help you manage your recovery so you can enjoy your results as soon as possible!

Dr Sozer and staff are wonderful! I had an abdominoplasty and breast augmentation and I love my result. During consultation Dr Sozer took his time explaining the surgery and answering all my questions. I was really nervous and he made me feel at ease. After surgery I had several post operative visits to make sure everything was healing well. Now that everything is completely healed I regret not coming to Dr Sozer sooner. I love my new body and I am no longer self conscious. I highly recommend Dr Sozer to anyone who is interested in surgery. Thank you Dr Sozer and staff!
