What is Thigh Lift Surgery?

Aging or weight loss can lead to sagging skin around your thighs. This skin can be more than an aesthetic problem, causing chafing and limiting your activities. A thigh lift removes loose skin to reveal slimmer, more sculpted tights. This procedure can be performed alone or with other body lift procedures, especially for those who have lost a lot of weight.

What is Thigh Lift Surgery?

Thigh lift surgery is used to tighten loose skin and sculpt the thighs. You may have sagging skin in this area due to the effects of aging. People who have lost large amounts of weight can develop significant amounts of loose skin around the thighs. This excess skin is uncomfortable and can prevent you from doing things you enjoy. A thigh lift is the only effective way to address sagging skin and other tissues.

How is a Thigh Lift Performed?

Dr. Sozer may perform thigh lifts in one of several ways, depending on your needs. A spiral thigh lift lifts the entire circumference of the thigh. A medial thigh lift addresses the common problem of loose skin on the insides of the thighs. The type of incision depends on how much skin your surgeon needs to lift. Only an examination and consultation can determine which technique is recommended for you.

Am I a Good Candidate for Thigh Lift Surgery?

Thigh lift surgery is recommended for people who want to address sagging skin and achieve a more sculpted appearance. Candidates should be in good health and have reasonable expectations. Ideal candidates are at a stable weight and plan to maintain it. If you are still losing weight, we recommend waiting to have a thigh lift.

What is Recovery Like After a Thigh Lift?

You can expect some discomfort and swelling in the area after your thigh surgery. You will have to limit your motions for the first two weeks to avoid stressing your incisions. The thigh area requires special care to heal properly, so follow your surgical team’s instructions. People with low-activity jobs may be able to return after about ten days but will still need to use caution. Dr. Sozer will assess your progress with each follow-up visit and let you know when you can resume more strenuous activities.

Can I Have Other Procedures With Thigh Lift Surgery?

A thigh lift is very beneficial alone. It can also be performed with other procedures. You may have a thigh lift as part of post-bariatric surgery, a full-body solution to excess skin after significant weight loss. People with loose skin around the thighs often have sagging buttocks as well, making a butt lift a popular companion to a thigh lift.
