Types of Dermal Fillers and How Long They Last
At El Paso Cosmetic Surgery, we offer two brands of dermal fillers:
Within the Juvederm® range, there are lots of other products, and each one can have different effects that last for a certain period of months. If you’d like to learn more about how long each dermal filler lasts, continue reading.
Voluma is most commonly used to target the cheeks and chin, offering more definition in these areas. On average, Juvederm® Voluma will last up to 2 whole years before maintenance is required.
Juvederm® Ultra or Ultra Plus
Ultra or Ultra Plus is used for lips and perioral area and they last up to 12 months.
By contrast, Juvederm® Vollure is primarily used to treat wrinkles and fine lines in the face. When looking at the average duration of its effects, Vollure tends to last up to 18 months.
The last member of the family is Juvederm® Volbella. Here, the injections are made mainly around the lips. This particular dermal filler is designed to add more plumpness and volume to this part of your face. In terms of duration, Volbella lasts 12 months on average.
Next, we have Sculptra® – which is a dermal filler composed of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). PLLA is a collagen stimulator, meaning it encourages the growth of collagen proteins in your skin, adding more structure and volume to the cells.
Sculptra® is largely used to tackle parts of the face and body that are suffering from fat loss. In the face, this usually means sunken cheeks or hollow eyes. It is one of the longest-lasting dermal fillers around, providing effects for up to 25 months.
Am I a Candidate for Dermal Fillers?
The dermal fillers offered by El Paso Cosmetic Surgery are FDA-approved and free from any allergens. They’re safe for the majority of the population, though we always advise getting a medical screening just to be safe. If you suffer from wrinkles, a loss of volume in your face, or thin lips, you could be a great candidate for some dermal fillers.
